8-23-19 Missouri: Short Term Update Through Saturday Evening.V.

Good Friday afternoon!

A current check on radar shows that we are seeing some showers and storms that are just hanging out in the S portion of the state. Our current lack of upper level winds to drive these storms are the reason that flooding could be a concern where we see some of these showers and storms set up and not move much:

We think that for the rest of the evening we are going to see some pretty scattered showers and storms, mainly focused in the S and SW parts of MO. Below is a look at simulated upper level energy from 7 AM CT Saturday morning until 7 PM CT Sat evening. We can see that the majority of energy (darker shades of red) stays in the W portion of the state. We think that a line from NW MO to SE MO and points South will have the best chances of seeing precipitation in the next 24 to 30 hours:

Current favored simulated radar from 1 AM CT Saturday morning until 7 PM CT Sat Morning. We think the focus for these scattered showers or storms will be the SW corner of Missouri, as this is where we see the best potential for upper level energy. North East Missouri should experience an overall dry rest of the evening and dry tomorrow:

Highs tomorrow look to be in the upper 70s/ low 80s across much of the state:

A look at precipitation guidance out through Saturday evening at 7 PM CT. Right now our thoughts are that we see precip on a rough line from NW to SE MO and points south. This is not saying that everyone south of this line will see precipitation, but we favor more dry weather the further N and E you go. The best shot at seeing this scattered precip comes in SW MO where we could see some areas in the 0.25 to 0.75 inches with some amounts locally higher where those heavier cells set up. Again, this will be more of a scattered round of precipitation so not everyone is going to see it and the highest chances come for SW MO:

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]! Have a great rest of your Friday!
