8-21-18 Northern Plains: Tracking scattered light rain this morning… nice tomorrow with increasing strong storm chances Thursday. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone! We have some light rain showers that are working through portions of South Dakota and into Minnesota. These likely continue into mid-day and continue to gradually weaken.

A few scattered showers are possible in SW SD and Eastern Minnesota this afternoon and evening:

Tomorrow will be a very nice day for most with some clouds in Southern South Dakota and clear elsewhere. Temperatures likely range from the mid-70s to the low 80s across the area, but overnight lows can easily dip into the 50s and 40s in spots the next two nights with the drier air:

The next rain chance will come with another upper-level low that pushes through on Thursday and into Friday. We could see the risk for strong to severe storms especially in Eastern South Dakota Thursday afternoon and into the overnight hours with hail and winds the main threat but can’t rule out tornadoes as a threat as well:

Activity likely continues into the weekend with additional rounds of showers and storms possible with active southwest flow developing continuing into early next week. Here’s a look at the 7 day rainfall totals from the European model:

Here’s a look at dew point and winds over the next 4 days:
