8-18-18 Northern Plains: Quiet, hot pattern takes hold. A few showers in NE Minnesota today. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Wednesday morning everyone. Quiet start to the morning across the area with just a few areas of fog in SE Minnesota. Here’s a look at current temperatures across the area this morning:

Here’s a look at the HRRR simulated radar for today showing some very light showers this morning in far NE Minnesota with perhaps a few pop up showers or storms this afternoon and evening:

Generally, little to no rainfall likely over the next 7 days. Perhaps a very isolated 0.1″ today in NE Minnesota, but most remain dry. Here’s a look at 7-day rainfall totals. Rain along the borders of the Dakotas comes from next Tuesday as a front starts to approach the area. Tuesday into next Wednesday along the front will likely be the next real chance at any notable rainfall across the region.

Can’t rule out a few areas of patchy fog in Eastern Minnesota the next few nights where temperatures drop slightly lower. However, generally we’ll see widespread 80s and 90s during the day and overnight lows into the 60s and 70s.

Moisture, however, will be lacking which is shown nicely on the dew point maps with low dews especially in the Dakotas.

Here’s a look at winds over the next 4 days:

Here are today’s city charts. They show very will the heat and lack of rainfall across the area the next 10 days with the warmest temperatures in Pierre, but plenty of 90s to be had in Minot and Devils Lake while Minneapolis generally lingers in the upper 80s most of the week .

Here’s a look at our latest week 2 outlooks showing a continued warmer and drier pattern into mid-August.
