Good Sunday morning!
A current look at radar shows we are seeing a main line of heavier precip that is working across Central MO with an area of lighter rains working through W MO:
As we push forward throughout the day, we think that we can continue to see chances for precip, mainly focused in the Northern parts of the state. We do want to mention that data is currently not handling this precip situation as good as usual because short term models can struggle with picking up on certain details with these clusters. Below is simulated radar from 11 AM CT until 11 PM CT this evening. We see our main wave of energy work across the state from W to E, with some scattered activity behind it that is mainly situated in E MO:
Today’s highs should be in the upper 80s/ low 90s for much of the state:
Overnight tonight and into tomorrow AM we are watching for the potential of another storm system that looks to impact more of the northern parts of the state. A look at simulated radar from 1 AM CT until 11 AM CT Monday morning. We could see some pretty widespread rains with this round of precip, however we are a little skeptical of how intense the radar returns are for this cluster. This is not to say we cannot see some heavy areas of precipitation, but we think the heaviest rains may be a little more scattered rather than widespread. Current thinking is that it moves its way further E as the morning goes on and is out of the area by the PM hours where we may be able to see more state-wide dry time:
A look at precip guidance out through 7 PM CT Monday. We do want to re-iterate that there is some slight uncertainty with the forecast out through tomorrow as we see some data just not having a great handle on current conditions. We do think that the northern sections of the state can see some higher precipitation totals as this is where our highest values of upper level energy have trended recently. The further S in the state you go, the more likely you are to see less rainfall over the next ~30 hours:
