8-10-18 KS/MO Evening Update: Widely scattered storms are expected to continue through the evening hours across central MO and portions of southern KS. I.

Good evening everyone! This will be a brief update regarding storms this evening. Scattered storms have ignited along a frontal boundary draped from St. Louis, MO to Wichita, KS as of 4:25pm CDT.

While severe weather looks to stay minimal this evening, I can’t rule out isolated severe wind gusts/hail accompanying a few storms. This broken line of storms is expected to drift southeastward over the next several hours towards the I-44 corridor. Daytime heating has provided additional lift needed along this boundary to spark these storms. However, as the evening progresses we will lose the daytime heating necessary to keep fueling these storms, leading to a slow weakening trend. Most storm coverage should remain along and north of the I-44 corridor with a low chance of storms south of this region in southeast MO due to the storms diminishing late this evening. I expect a majority of the storms to have dissipated by 12am CDT.

Here’s a look at total rainfall through 4am CDT Saturday:

Storm chances will remain minimal heading into tomorrow afternoon/evening with only a slight chance of storms in association with an upper-level low across the far southern portions of KS and MO. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out and have a great weekend!
