8-1-19 Kansas: Excessive rains target eastern Kansas through Saturday…big heat for south/west areas…pattern relaxes this weekend. N.

Today’s video:

Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours…noting a sliver of widespread 5-10″ across far eastern Kansas where it’s still currently raining very heavy…legitimately some of these areas will receive up to 15″+ total in this timeframe:

Flash flood watches and warnings continue across far eastern Kansas for rainfall currently on-going and for the additional very heavy rain, flash flooding and storms late tonight into Friday:

Here’s our favored simulated radar guidance throughout the day today into Friday below…some scattered showers/storms are possible in central Kansas today…but the heaviest storms likely not coming until ~midnight continuing through probably at least noon tomorrow fairly consistently starting west from Goodland working east to Concordia and dropping southeast from there. It’s also possible for areas south of Wichita to see a re-emerging storm threat after midnight Friday night into early Saturday morning for additional heavy rainfall and storms:

Favored rainfall guidance for tonight into Friday is below…areas from Concordia to Manhattan south to near Wichita and points southeast pose the risks for another widespread 1.5-3.0″…however, similar to this morning…we think there can be multiple locations that top receive another 4-6″+ of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. It’s also possible that these totals might bleed a touch further east in reality, where some folks may top 10-15″ total from last night through Friday when it’s all said and done:
