Good Monday afternoon!
A quick look at radar as of 6:30 PM Central. We are seeing only small pockets of coverage across the state with three main areas, one cell in the SW, a scattered line in North/Central KS that extended into Nebraska, and a cell in SE KS:
Our main focus this evening is on the areas in the W and Central parts of the state as seen on radar. These lines will continue to push their way E overnight and into the early morning hours tomorrow. Here is a simulated radar loop from 9 PM Central tonight until 7 AM Tuesday morning:
The area outlined in red is where we think the heaviest rains and most severe weather can occur tonight and into the overnight hours. Flash flooding and high wind gusts will be the two main threats of severe weather, however large hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. As the line pushes in to the E parts of Kansas, we are expecting this line to diminish, greatly reducing out severe threat the further east you go:
After these storms work their way out tomorrow in the morning, we are looking at a generally dry day barring a few scattered pop ups that would most likely occur in the NE part of the state. High temps tomorrow will be the focus with highs right around 90 for much of the state:
A look at rainfall guidance through tomorrow afternoon at 1 PM. While these numbers should not be taken exactly, the focus for the heaviest rains will come in the Northern half of Kansas. Current thought is that 1.0 to 2.0 inches will fall for much of the Northern portions of KS with amounts locally higher where the strongest cells set up:
