Good Sunday afternoon! This will be a quick update regarding today’s severe weather threat. There are still some lingering showers and embedded thunderstorms across east-central ND into northwestern MN with a majority of this morning’s convection since exiting the region. The remaining showers/storms across the region will push eastward over the next few hours with additional development along the western/southern fringes of this convection between 4-6pm CDT across north-central MN into far southeastern ND/northeastern SD. These storms will initially start off with a large hail threat before congealing into a line pushing southeastward across far eastern SD and central MN through the evening and overnight becoming more of a damaging wind threat. A couple tornadoes cannot be ruled out as there will be a better risk for them initially. By early morning these storms will lose steam and gradually weaken across southern MN.
Simulated radar through 5am CDT Monday morning: This model is not perfect as every high-resolution model starts off more aggressive than our current situation but I believe it has a good handle on how this evening into the overnight evolves.
