Good Friday morning! Here’s a general summary of the weather for the next week:

A majority of the region is dry this morning as of 8:30am CDT with an exception being south-central ND/far northern SD where a small cluster of showers and storms are working eastward. This area of storms will bring locally heavy rainfall and continue across southeastern SD into far west-central MN before diminishing mid-afternoon. High pressure over the eastern portions of the area will continue to suppress rain risks elsewhere for the rest of today into tomorrow.

Heading into late Saturday/early Sunday, a cold front will push southeast into the Dakotas and provide enough lift to initiate storm development in eastern/southern ND, northern SD, and northwestern MN. These storms will lift eastward overnight Saturday into Sunday, possibly severe, before gradually weakening Sunday morning across eastern ND into northern MN.

This front will linger into Sunday with some more re-development possible late Sunday into Monday across the eastern Dakotas into MN.

Total rainfall over the next 7 days: Many locations across the Dakotas will remain dry over the next week with rainfall picking up across the eastern Dakotas into central/northern MN. 0.5-1.5″ of rain with locally higher amounts are possible in the far eastern Dakotas into the northern half of MN.

Here’s a look at high temperatures over the next four days: Heat begins to build across the area today through the weekend.

Here’s a look at low temperatures: Areas south of the front will continue to see warm overnight lows with some areas not getting out of the mid 70s at night.
