Good Friday morning! Waking up to showers and storms developing over portions of Kansas. Very little movement to any showers here due to no wind flow aloft to steer these. Here is 2-hour radar loop ending at 7:10 CDT this morning:
Here are radar estimated rain amounts in the past 24 hours. Local heavy rain amounts in west-central Kansas.
Forecast radar through the day. More scattered, slow-moving showers and storms in portions of Kansas today (especially central, west, and southern parts of the state). Other than a spotty storm in southern Missouri, many areas outside of Kansas will be dry today.
Total rainfall through tonight: A few local pockets of heavy rain 1-2″+ where these storms form, but the key here is that this will be very hit and miss! The local heavy amounts will be thanks to no wind flow aloft.
Beyond today, this is an exceptionally calm forecast ahead! Overall the region should remain dry this weekend, outside of a few spotty storms in southwest Kansas Saturday. Many areas won’t see any rainfall over the next week, including the areas that have been so exceptionally wet in Nebraska and Iowa. Check out the 7-day rainfall forecast. The data is all in good agreement for a dry next 7 days.
