Good afternoon everyone! This will be a quick update regarding storm activity across the region. Taking a glance at radar as of 4:35pm CDT, there are a few areas of showers/storms to note. The first area is an MCS that has sunk southward across KS over the last several hours and the other being scattered shower and storm development fueled by daytime heating (builds instability) across northern KS and eastern NE. Showers and storms are more isolated in nature across IA and far northern MO. A couple of these storms may become strong this evening with gusty winds and small hail possible.
HRRR simulated radar through 8am CDT Tuesday: The MCS will lift out of far southeast KS over the next couple of hours with development that fired out ahead of the MCS still affecting far southwest MO through 9pm CDT tonight. Instability-driven storms found in the region currently will lose coverage as the sun sets this evening; Most areas will have dissipated by 10-11pm CDT tonight with a few pesky showers/storms possibly still hanging around until 1am CDT in eastern KS/western MO. During the rest of the overnight hours the only areas that have a chance of showers/storms, albeit low, remains over southern/eastern MO where some leftover upper-level energy will still be draped into Tuesday morning.
Here’s a look at rainfall through 8am CDT Tuesday:
