Today’s video:
Observed rainfall over the weekend showing some very heavy localized rainfall especially later Saturday into Sunday as a potent wave of storms worked east:
Here’s a look at the month to date precipitation departure in inches:
Total precipitation guidance over the next 60 hours is below that we favor through Wednesday morning…very dry overall with most if not all totals staying below 0.5″ especially for ND and MN…check out the video above for an hour-by-hour breakdown:
Things stay on the lighter side as a whole for much of Nebraska and Minnesota over the next week as well, where totals will generally range ~0.1-0.5″ in these areas…however, for especially the southern half of South Dakota and points south looks to be much more active, favoring the potential for ~0.5-1.5″ with localized higher amounts possible where some strong showers/t’storms may develop throughout the period:
A good way to look at this next week ahead for the Northern Plains is looking at rainfall anomaly…showing the below normal nature of things for ND to MN, and on the flip-side above normal for much of SD to NE and IA as storm clusters make their way frequently through this corridor overdone the ridge to the southwest:
