7-20-18 Central Plains Forecast: A few scattered storms possible today…overall less active through the weekend. N.

Video:

Storm report map from Thursday shows the multiple tornado reports across central Iowa.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the locations that were affected by these destructive storms yesterday.

Severe storm outlook today: Still a threat for a few scattered storms today mainly southwest Nebraska through Kansas and Missouri….highest “severe” risk across southeast Missouri with a higher threat for pockets of hail and damaging wind in the boot heel IF storms can develop.  Certainly a greater risk to the east.

Forecast radar from 10am today through 7am Saturday shown below.  Weak energy passing aloft will spark widely scattered storms from central/southern Nebraska through Kansas and Missouri, but not expected to be overly widespread.  As we head through tonight watch for additional storms to continue across southern Kansas and Missouri, moving out as we wake up tomorrow morning.

Rainfall through 7AM CDT Saturday:

A good part of the area will enjoy a nice day of weather Saturday….we’ll watch for a few scattered storms in northwest parts of the region Saturday night into Sunday, then additional storms fire across the northern/western Plains Sunday evening and night.  Watch today’s video for more information.  Here is a look at rainfall from now through Monday morning:
