Afternoon video:
Good Monday afternoon! Storms are set to fire in an unstable environment across far eastern CO into western KS/southwestern NE between 4-7pm CDT initially, then progress eastward overnight as the individual cells merge into a cluster. This cluster will gradually weaken overnight across central/southern NE and northern KS.
This afternoon’s updated severe weather outlook…the areas circled in yellow are at risk for these storms and the threat for some wind and hail. Localized flooding is also possible in spots where it heavy rains fell over the weekend as well as this afternoon and evening.
Another disturbance will kick out of the Rockies riding along the upper level ridge into western NE/far northwestern KS late Tuesday into early Wednesday. I expect this area of storm activity to push northeast overnight Tuesday into Wednesday across NE as it rides the periphery of a west-building ridge. These storms could be strong with some gusty winds and hail.
Total rainfall through 8am tomorrow morning: Areas across north-central KS into south-central KS have the highest chances of localized heavy.
