Good Friday afternoon!
A quick check on radar shows that we are dry across the state:
We are watching for the potential of a line of storms to develop later this evening. Here is simulated radar at 11 PM CT tonight. Our focus area for these storms will be the North East and North/Central parts of the state. Some of these cells have the potential to be strong to severe with the biggest threats being localized flash flooding where the storms set up and the potential for large hail. Our severe threats are not extremely high, however the possibility is there:
For the rest of your Saturday, we will be looking at widely scattered showers and storms. This will not accumulate to large amounts of rain state wide, but the potential is there for some hit and miss showers and storms across the state tomorrow. This will mainly be focused in the N half of the state, however this is not saying we completely rule out some activity in the S portions of Nebraska:
The main focus tomorrow will be the heat in the SE part of the state. “Feels like” values will be 105 degrees and up, while the further N and W you go, we will have a very different story with “feels like” temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
A look at rainfall guidance going out the next 36 hours into Saturday evening. As mentioned, the highest amounts of rainfall during the short term should be focused on the Northeast corner of the state. Overall we are looking at 0.1 to 0.5 inches, however we could see very localized areas go above this if a few cells lay down heavier amounts of rain in a short time. As of right now this does not look like anything to cancel plans for tomorrow:
