7-19-18 Central Plains Forecast: Strong storm risks target eastern Plains today….drier pattern heading into the weekend. N.

Video:

On the lookout for severe storm risks today across Missouri and east-central/southeast Iowa.  In the video I break-down the timing of the storms.  Main risks will be isolated pockets of large hail (iso. very large) along with damaging wind gusts.  Isolated tornado or two wouldn’t be out of the question either given the enhanced wind shear aloft working in.

Forecast radar from this morning through 10am Friday shown below.

Expected rainfall through Friday morning.  I expanded the circle a bit across Kansas to save for some scattered storms that may roll through overnight tonight with a weak disturbance passing through.  Obviously the most widespread rains target north/east Iowa with 1-2″ locally 3″+.  More scattered across Missouri.

Quieter forecast going from Friday through most of the weekend for the area.  More details in today’s video.  Your temperature/wind forecast panels are shown below, along with our updated weeks 1 and 2 temperatures and precipitation from normal outlooks:
