7-12-19 Nebraska: Short Term Update through Saturday evening.V.

Good Friday afternoon!

Here is a look at radar as of 3:00 PM CT. As of right now we are pretty quiet across the state with only a few scattered areas of precipitation mainly focused in the N and W portions of the state:

We are expecting these quiet radar returns to change as we head into the evening and overnight hours. Thunderstorms look to impact the W parts of the state this evening. Here is simulated radar at 8 PM CT Friday:

These cells look to combine and form more of a storm cluster overnight and into the pre-dawn hours that will continue to work W to E across the state. Our focus area for the highest chances of precip and heaviest rains will be the Northern and Central sections of the state. Below is a simulated radar loop from 10 PM CT Fri until 8 AM CT Sat:

After this cluster works its way out of the state in the late morning/early PM hours, the rest of Sat should stay dry for most of the state. There could be a leftover spotty shower/storm in the E part of Nebraska, but this would be very isolated and not anything widespread. Saturday “feels like” temperatures will be in the low to mid 90’s for much of the state:

We are keeping an eye on Saturday evening as a similar situation to this evening could take place where storms start to creep into the W parts of the state in the ~7 to 9 PM CT timeframe. Tomorrow’s update will look into this potential further:

A look at rainfall guidance out until Saturday evening. Again, most of the rainfall will be focused on the Northern and Central portions of the state, and most of the precip should fall late tonight and into early tomorrow morning. We think this model may be under-doing precip in the W part of the state for this evening and the potential tomorrow evening, as well as the NE parts of the state. Overall 0.25 to 0.75 inches can be expected with this storm cluster, with amounts above 1.5 inches where the heaviest rain bands set themselves up:
