Today’s Video:
Good Thursday morning everyone! Showers and storms continue to push to the SSE in East-Central Minnesota which produced several severe weather reports in North Central Minnesota last night:
We also have showers and storms lifting along the frontal boundary into Eastern SD and Western MN as well as the border of ND/SD. These scattered areas of precipitation likely continue into the afternoon, with a more concentrated risk of showers in the afternoon for Western SD and into Southern North Dakota:
However, the heaviest rain risks will develop in southern portions of the area in an area of greater instability south of the front. Some areas could pick up 0.5 – 2″+ over the next 36 hours and it has led to flash flood watches being issued in SE SD and SW MN. There will also be a severe risk with these storms over the next 36 hours as high instability and cooling low-levels will lead to a chance for isolated strong to damaging wind gusts late today and tomorrow.
Here’s a look at total rain over the next 60 hours:
This will usher in cooler air before warmth returns ahead of another front Saturday. This second front which will push through Sunday morning and into Monday and will kick-in a pattern change which will lead to cooler temperatures into next week:
