The remnants from the overnight MCS that tracked across KS continue to bring heavy showers and storms across far eastern KS into western MO as of 8am CDT. These remnants will continue to progress east ahead of the cold front this morning while gradually weakening into the early afternoon.
Simulated radar through 2am CDT tonight: Morning convection across eastern KS into MO will be replaced with scattered storms along the cold front across eastern/southern MO this afternoon and evening. While I do not expect much severe weather to come out of this afternoon/evening’s storms, I can’t rule out gusty winds and some hail.
Monday will start off mostly dry with an exception being far southeastern KS/far southwestern MO where some leftover energy could produce isolated showers and storms in the morning. Another disturbance kicks out of CO late Monday providing additional opportunities for storms to fire across western KS through the overnight into Tuesday. Gusty winds and small hail cannot be ruled out with these storms.
Here’s a look at precipitation through 7am Monday:
Significant heat will be confined to eastern MO today where Heat Advisories/Excessive Heat Warnings remain in effect. The upper level ridge that brought the heat this past week will retrograde back west as the new week progresses, bringing along with it more excessive heat. 90s for highs are expected across eastern MO today before becoming more widespread across KS and MO during the work week. Heat indices surpassing 100ºF are likely across a majority of the area starting Monday but especially Tuesday and Wednesday. Please take precautions with this heat and the upcoming heat as well as stay hydrated and cool!
High temperatures over the next four days:
Low temperatures over the next four days: Overnight lows Monday will be more relieving across northern KS/MO before they rise again Tuesday morning.
Dew points over the next four days: Dew points over 70ºF are likely across a majority of MO today with a drawback in humidity across KS. High humidity levels will return heading into the new work week.
