Forecast radar over the next 60 hours: Today’s weather is a copy of yesterday. This pesky upper-low to our south will lift north this weekend bringing scattered showers and storms. Looks like “greatest” coverage Saturday will be the southern half of Indiana into southern-central Illinois, then on Sunday a greater focus over Indiana, with lower coverage across Illinois.
Total precipitation idea through Sunday: You can see the variable nature of rain with this system. Slow movement of rain means localized flash flooding is possible, with some spots as low as 0.25″, with other spots reaching near 2″ through the weekend. A general range of 0.50″ to 1.00″ over much of Indiana, with more 0.25″ to 0.75″ in eastern Illinois seems realistic. In a set-up like this just know there will be isolated spots that don’t get as much, it isn’t necessarily a bust if your spot stays drier. With systems like these, that’s just the way it goes. We cannot forecast down to a backyard. Obviously the further south/east you are, the higher your risk to get those higher amounts.
Cold front arrives Monday clearing out the rain by the afternoon from west to east. Lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s by Tuesday morning!
