6-5-19 Norfolk Harborfest: Timing out storm chances today. Watching rain risks tomorrow into Sunday. B.

Today’s Video:

Today’s Weather Overview:

  • 8AM – 12PM: Should remain dry as activity remains well west. Winds may gust at times from the southwest up to 20-25 MPH.
  • 12PM – 3PM: Storms begin to develop west of the area, can’t rule out a rogue pop up but chances are you remain dry in this period as temperatures warm into the 80s.
  • 4PM – 7 PM: First wave of broken line of storms begin to push through the area. These could contain heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, strong wind gusts and perhaps some hail.
  • 7PM – 10PM: The main line of storms likely works through the area with wind gusts the main threat.

Latest 5 Day Outlook:

Simulated Radar today: As we work into tomorrow a lingering boundary over the area will likely lead to another round of rain and storms especially tomorrow afternoon. The morning hours will likely be dry, with activity favored to increase with daytime heating tomorrow afternoon/evening. West to east flow could lead to “training” of storms over the same location and locally heavy rainfall.

Rainfall *potential* the next two days hint that pockets of 2-3″ of rain are possible with widespread 0.75-1.5″:The boundary looks to sag south Friday leading to more isolated rain chances and with the upper-level low trending slower, it could allow Saturday to remain dry with rain chances returning on Sunday:
