6-5-19 Indiana: Severe storm threat later today…..models trending somewhat drier through the weekend. N.

Radar as of 6:30AM ET showing scattered storms, with several rounds moving across far northern Indiana, with a round in eastern Illinois poised to move mainly just north of Indy over the next few hours.  Another round pushing mainly along/south of I-64 in southern Indiana as well.  Image below shows general movement of these.

A few scattered storms work east through 10am today, then we watch for storms to develop over north-central Indiana by mid-afternoon, draping south as the storms develop into a cluster this evening.  Here is the forecast radar into the evening hours.  Damaging winds are a concern as this moves through, along with pockets of large hail.

Today’s severe outlook:  Highest severe threat across central and southern Indiana.

Forecast rainfall through tonight: 0.25″ to 0.75″ with several pockets of 1″+.  

Models trending drier for the weekend.  Best storm threat south tomorrow and Friday.  Chances increase this weekend, but highest risks will be south.  Forecast confidence is lower than normal, but the trends have undoubtedly been drier.  Data still putting down fairly heavy amounts in southwest Indiana.   Total rain next 7 days is below.
