Here is a look at current radar. The radar is pretty busy with a large storm cluster working its way through the E part of the state and slowly moving most of the energy into Wisconsin while the Western part of the state looks at some scattered thunderstorm activity:
Here is a look at rainfall totals for the past 24 hours, ending at 7:00 AM ET. Portions of north central MN picked up over 3 inches so far, and these numbers will certainly increase, especially to the east, as this storm cluster continues to hit the eastern parts of the state:
Highs today will be in the mid 80’s for the northern half of the state and hovering near 90 for the Southern half of MN:
Here is a look at simulated radar from 7 AM CT to 7 PM CT today. Once this area of rain in the Eastern part of the state pushes out, there are only scattered chances, mainly in the southern half of the state for the rest of the day:
The next round of rain we need to be watching comes in the overnight hours. We will be watching a line of storms push W to E in the Southern half of the state. Here is a simulated radar image at 5 AM CT tomorrow morning:
A look at rainfall guidance for the next 48 hours. These storms in the southern portions of MN will bring a general tenth to half inch of rain, however there can be very localized spots that get up to 1.25 inches of rain, mainly coming from the round tonight and into the early morning hours tomorrow:
The main threats with these storms include winds gusts, hail, lightning, and localized heavy rain amounts. Flash flooding could be a concern if these storms set up over one spot for an extended period of time.
