6-3-19 Illinois: Possible storm cluster Tuesday night – unsettled pattern late week. N.

Video:

Staying dry through the day today, with a few showers sneaking in tonight especially along/north of I-70.  A dry air mass will limit coverage and intensity, so many remain dry.  It’s tomorrow night when we turn our attention to storm risks and even potential for severe weather to return.  We’ll see lots of dry-time on our Tuesday as warm and humid air surges back in by the afternoon.  This sets us up for a possible cluster of storms overnight Tuesday.  Right now west-central Illinois is in a slight risk, but based on trends I can easily see this extended east.

Total rainfall through Wednesday:

More severe weather possible Wednesday, mainly the southern half of the state as a boundary looks to linger here mid-week.  There will be plenty of dry hours Wednesday as well.  Late week through the weekend, daily rain and storm risks continue, initially focused in the southern half of the state Thursday, then lifting north Friday through the weekend.  Here is a map showing you the overall set-up and currently where the highest risk of heavy rain sets-up:
