Heat associated with an upper level ridge located just to our south and east has brought heat into the southeastern portions of our region. Today’s temperatures will likely exceed 90ºF (and even approach 100ºF) across southeast SD into the southern half of MN. Heat advisories/Excessive Heat Warnings have been issued across these areas for today as heat indices are expected to surpass 100ºF. Please take precautions with this heat and stay hydrated and cool!

We also have another risk of severe weather along the frontal boundary late this evening into tonight. The first risk will come with some thunderstorms that could produced isolated large hail and damaging winds in Southwest South Dakota. More development likely occurs in Western and Central Minnesota late this evening and into tonight and tracks into Eastern/Northeastern Minnesota:
We’ll likely see additional storms develop in SE Minnesota tomorrow afternoon and evening as the front continues to sag south. We could also see an additional cluster of rain Sunday afternoon:
