Good Wednesday morning! A cluster of showers and storms is currently drifting southeast across southeast SD. This area of storms, which has been severe through portions of the morning, will continue to weaken through early afternoon.
Showers and storm development are possible today across MN into southeast SD with the rest of the area mostly staying dry after this morning’s wave in SD. We will see two rounds of storms tomorrow across portions of the area, one associated with a warm front lifting into the region and the other one further west associated with the cold front. With these storms all modes of severe weather are possible, especially large hail and damaging winds. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Latest data coming in now producing an additional piece of energy working through the east/central Dakotas and west central MN overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. This could produce a cluster of storms with locally heavy downpours. Simulated radar from 1am tonight to 10am CDT Thursday:
Simulated radar from 11am to 7pm CDT Thursday: Showers and storms fire in association with the warm front across ND and northwestern MN.
Simulated radar from 7pm CDT to 10am CDT Friday: Storms fire along the cold front across the Dakotas late evening Thursday and pushes east into MN overnight into Friday.
Active pattern shaping up into the weekend with at least two rounds of rain chances with the heaviest rain likely coming Thursday night for the northern third of the area. Additional rain chances likely as we head into Saturday and Saturday night for the southeastern portions of the area.
Here’s a look at temperatures over the next four days: Heat will lift northward as the week progresses due to a building dome of high pressure just to the east of our area. Some places across SD into MN may work in 90ºF readings Thursday and Friday with max heat indices approaching 100ºF.
