Afternoon video:
Synopsis: A cluster of showers and storms still linger across eastern MO while an area of convection is pushing east across eastern KS as of 12:20 CDT. Showers and storms in eastern MO will exit the state this afternoon while the area of storms in eastern KS will move east into western MO this afternoon into the evening. Look for additional development across portions of eastern KS and western/southern MO where the axis of highest instability resides from now through the evening hours. Some of these storms may be severe with large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe, are also likely to fire across eastern IA in association with the low pressure system. I can’t rule out some brief spin-ups in this area due to the natural spin in the atmosphere.
Mesoscale Discussion and Severe Weather Outlook regarding afternoon and evening storms:
Simulated radar through 5am CDT Wednesday morning:
Rainfall amounts through 5am tomorrow: There will be areas that pick up 1-2″ of rain with locally higher amounts, especially across central/southern MO.
