Forecast radar from 2pm CT to midnight tonight shows the zone of strong storms developing across southern/southeast Nebraska into northern Kansas with an elevated risk for large hailstones, damaging wind gusts, and I think a few brief tornadoes are possible. The area of storms then looks to break into two pieces – 1 that moves east into southern Iowa, and another piece that dives south into central Kansas through the evening.
Today’s severe storm outlook:
Total rainfall into Wednesday morning: Wouldn’t be shocked to see localized higher amounts with that cluster in Kansas tonight – but again it won’t cover a huge area.
Wind forecast over the next 4 days:
Another scattered storm threat Wednesday PM-night, then MOST areas dry out as a strong ridge of high pressure expands into the area. The areas to the east are still in a zone that can get clipped with storms Thursday-Thursday night, but the theme from Thursday through the weekend is dry and hot. Total rainfall over the next 7 days:
Lincoln:
Grand Island:
North Platte:
Topeka:
Salina:
