6-25-19 IA/MO: Southern Iowa/Northern Missouri severe threat this evening…heat to build in days ahead…details here. N.

Video:

Forecast radar from 3pm this afternoon to midnight tonight Central is shown below.  The southern 2 county rows of Iowa into extreme northwest and north Missouri will see storms develop in a west to east narrow line this evening.  6-9pm seems like the highest severe threat.

Large hail is definitely a threat with these storms, so definitely a good idea to park the car in the garage in these areas.  Damaging winds and a spotty tornado possible as well.  Today’s severe storm outlook has southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri under the enhanced threat.

Total rainfall averaged from several hi-resolution models through Wednesday morning: Feel like the southern 2 county rows in Iowa can see pockets of 1″+ rain embedded in those storms this evening, while parts of western Missouri can get clipped with a wave of storms that works across eastern Kansas tonight.  Missouri is definitely a lower confidence zone so check back for an update later today.

As we head into Wednesday late morning into the afternoon data is picking up on a cluster of storms that can work across portions of central and northeast:

The video touches more on Thursday storm risks targeting mainly Iowa.  Here is total rain through Saturday:
