6-24-18 Central Plains Sunday Update: Strong storms possible today with the potential for flash flooding for some. I.

Good Sunday morning! This will be a text update regarding the storms this morning and the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms later this afternoon. Have a great rest of your weekend! -Isaac

It is a very busy start to our Sunday morning across portions of the central plains! There are two distinct clusters of showers and thunderstorms, one across southwestern KS and the other in southeast KS and southward as of 7:55am CDT. The southwest KS cluster has the potential to bring gusty winds, isolated hail, and heavy downpours through the next couple of hours as it dives south while the southeast KS cluster will slowly move eastward into southern MO bringing with it the potential for torrential rains.

This afternoon and evening has the potential for the development of strong to severe thunderstorms across a large portion of the area, especially across southern KS where the SPC has issued an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms. Large hail, damaging winds, flash flooding, and isolated tornadoes are possible with these storms.

Simulated radar from 8am CDT today through 7am CDT Monday: Morning thunderstorms will be replaced with widespread storm development across NE early this afternoon into the evening and western KS later this afternoon spreading into eastern KS through the overnight hours. Training storms are possible across southern MO tonight where flash flooding is possible.

Total rainfall amounts…a good base of 0.5-1.5″ is likely where it storms across KS, southern MO, and eastern NE with locally higher amounts possible through 8am Monday morning. Flash flooding is on the table where storms set up and train, especially across far southern KS/MO
