Observed rainfall for the past 48 hours. The KS/NE border has seen heavy amounts of rain with some spots topping 4 inches of rain in just 2 days:
Current radar shows the rain and storms moving SW to NE and we are starting to see more scattered thunderstorms showing up in central KS:
Strong storms are expected to continue to be a concern throughout the night, especially the central and eastern parts of Kansas. Here is simulated radar for this evening starting at 4 PM Central:
The severe weather threat does not end tonight as strong storms will still be in the area on Sunday, especially the Eastern parts of KS/NE. Here is simulated radar for 8 AM Central tomorrow morning:
This line will eventually progress East throughout the morning Sunday, however the rain chances do not go away as there will be more storm development later in the day. Here is simulated radar at 6 PM Central showing a line of storms that will be working its way through the Western parts of KS/NE:
Here is a look at rainfall guidance amounts going out to 1 AM Monday Central. Much of Nebraska should have lighter amounts with a general 0.1 to 0.25 inches of rain, however amounts could be higher locally where a strong storm sets up. Kansas will be dealing with much heavier amounts of rain, especially the SE parts of the state. Some spots could be looking at another 4 inches in the next 36 hours, with the best shot of higher totals being in the SE part of the state:
