Heavy rain is continuing this evening particularly in the eastern half of North and South Dakota. That being said this region is under a slight risk of excessive rainfall so flash flooding is possible throughout the region outlined below. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 0.5-1.5″ throughout the area with locally heavier pockets of 2+ inches associated with these storms. These showers and thunderstorms will continue to move through the area overnight, but should weaken and push north by 5am tomorrow morning.

Another wave of energy will then begin pushing through the region, still associated with the same low pressure system, that could bring more rain to the area particularly in eastern portions of North and South Dakota and southern Minnesota. In total through the day on Saturday the region is expected to get 0.5-2″ with locally heavier pockets of 3-4+” particularly in southern Minnesota.
