Quieter today compared to the past several days. Most of the showers exit northeast Illinois by 10am, but do expect additional isolated pop-ups this afternoon. However, most will be dry as we break into partly cloudy skies this afternoon. Friday, the active set-up returns, especially late. Our thinking right now is for an initial complex of storms to ride northwest to southeast across western and southern sections of the state Friday afternoon. This will pose the risk of producing damaging winds. More showers and storms should begin settling in late Friday evening and night across much of the state resulting in an elevated flash flood threat.
