Today’s video:
Radar (2 hour loop as 8:55am CDT) depicts a busy morning across the region with many areas picking up rainfall associated with an upper level trough/cold front. Convection over eastern IA/MO will move out of the area later this morning while shower activity over southern KS will fade through the morning hours.
A swath of showers and embedded thunderstorms situated over eastern NE into western IA will continue to spin relative to the low pressure system through the rest of today into this evening. Storms will fire early this afternoon across far eastern KS, western MO, and IA with a few of these storms possibly producing hail, gusty winds, and heavy downpours.
Simulated radar from 11am CDT today through 1am CDT tonight:
Wrap-around precipitation associated with the low pressure system will sink southeast into eastern KS and MO with storm risks continuing across IA Thursday. Simulated radar from 1am CDT tonight through 7pm CDT tomorrow.
Through the next 24 hours, the heaviest rains will be associated with the low pressure system over northeast NE into northwestern IA where 2-4″ with locally higher amounts possible. Storms associated with the cold front (eastern KS into MO) can drop anywhere from 0.5-1.5″ of rain with locally higher amounts.
High temperatures over the next four days: An upper level trough positioned over NE will dig into the region and slowly push southeast through Friday, leading to more seasonable weather than what was observed over the past week.
Low temperatures over the next four days: A noticeable relief from the heat over the next few days!
Dew points over the next four days: A more refreshing air mass will dive in behind the cold front associated with the trough starting today in western NE and KS and pushing east across the area tonight into Thursday.
Wind forecast over the next four days: Winds will pick up along the north and west sides of the low pressure system today into tomorrow before subsiding Friday after the storm system clears the area.
