A cluster of showers and storms located over northeast KS, northern MO, and southern IA are still making their way east as of 12:15 CDT this afternoon. These storms will continue to push east and slightly south through the afternoon hours.
There is still a severe weather threat for a large portion of the area today, especially western KS and southern NE. The main threats with the storms across KS and NE include large hail, damaging wind, isolated tornadoes, and heavy downpours.
Storms look to develop between 3 and 4pm CDT today across western KS and NE. Going into the overnight hours the storms will congeal into a cluster and push east across central KS and eastern NE, bringing with them very heavy rain. Flash flooding will become a concern late afternoon into the overnight hours.
Total rainfall through 7am CDT Thursday: 0.5-1.5″ of rain with locally high amounts possible over the next 48 hours across portions of KS, NE, northern MO, and IA.
