Today’s video:

Overall, a very pleasant day today across the northern plains with an exception of a couple weak disturbances across southern South Dakota sparking some showers and elevated thunderstorms. Coverage with these storms will increase during the early afternoon hours as they head east before they approach a more stable airmass this evening and slowly weaken. Simulated radar goes through 1pm CDT tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning could exhibit some scattered showers across northwest North Dakota. Heat and instability builds in from the south during the day Thursday ahead of a cold front. Central North Dakota will be the main target for severe thunderstorms with the main threat being large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. Here’s a look at simulated radar between 4pm CDT Thursday to 1pm CDT Friday.

Frontal boundary will stall out over the area over the weekend leading to a sharp gradient in temperatures from northwest to southeast. This will also lead to numerous and consistent chances of rain over the weekend and into early next week.

The frontal boundary across the region this weekend will lead to heat indices surpassing 100ºF across southeast South Dakota into southern Minnesota with more seasonable temperatures for areas north of this boundary. High temperatures for the next four days:

Low temperatures over the next four days: Overnight temperatures across southeast South Dakota and southern Minnesota will remain elevated this weekend, with many areas dipping only into the low 70s:
