Good Monday morning everyone! A few showers have developed in the Western Dakotas, though dry air is preventing much of this from reaching the ground this morning. This dry air – along with some gusty winds – has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for Southeast North Dakota for enhanced fire danger.
However, the atmosphere will begin to moisten up this afternoon and better risks for scattered showers and storms will develop. Favoring Northern North Dakota later this afternoon/evening with activity picking up in the Western Dakotas late this evening into the overnight hours. A more congealed line of heavier storms could develop especially for Eastern South Dakota and Southern Minnesota overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. Rain and shower chances continue – especially for Minnesota and the Eastern Dakotas – throughout much of Tuesday and even into Wednesday.
As this systems pushes off to the northeast Wednesday, much cooler air will sink into the area for Thursday. With dreary conditions, temperature could linger in the 40s for portions of North Dakota Thursday!
A boundary will set up in Southern South Dakota and Minnesota which will allow numerous rain chances to end the week and even into the weekend. This is shaping up to be quite an active week with cooler risks to the north.
