Flash flood watch continues until 9am CDT for west-central Illinois.
Scattered storms to start our day, with heavier storms expected to focus near and south of I-70 through 10am. We’ll catch a break in most areas from mid morning into the afternoon, before severe threat and storm risks pick back up especially after 4pm, with more widespread storms arriving this evening from southwest to northeast. Forecast radar from 5am to 9pm shown below:
Today’s severe threat is enhanced across southwest and central Illinois due to the potential for large hail and damaging wind gusts. Highest threat this evening.
Widespread showers and storms lift north overnight, with a continued risk for hail and wind through the late evening into overnight as it lifts north. Widespread rains will exit during the morning Thursday..but additional widely scattered rain/storm risks Thursday afternoon.
