5-26-19 NCAA Rowing Championship: Discussing rain chances this week. MG.

Good Sunday morning.  Here is your 7-day forecast outlook for the NCAA Rowing Championships:

We have an active weather pattern for Eagle Creek this week with multiple storm chances beginning Monday.  In general highs will hover the low 80’s to upper 70’s throughout the week.

On Monday, instability will grow throughout the day as a warm front pushes through the area.  This will allow for scattered storm development  throughout the area with some potentially being severe in nature.  The greatest risk will be in the afternoon hours when instability is the highest.  Here is a look at simulated radar for tomorrow.  This model has the Indy area getting thunderstorms between 5 and 6 PM.

The Storm Prediction Center currently has central Indiana in a marginal risk for severe weather tomorrow with  hail and wind being the main threats although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Tuesday looks to be a dry day with highs in the mid to lower 80’s and winds coming out the the southwest.  Wind gust could approach 30 mph.

Here is a look at wind gust 2 PM Tuesday:

Rain chances then begin to move back in on Wednesday and Thursday associated with with a low pressure system moving through the area. The exact details  will need fine-tuned as we get closer to Wednesday and Thursday but 2-Day rain accumulations of around an inch will be possible.  Most of this rain will come on Thursday as a cold front sweeps across the area.  Also of concern will be the winds on Wednesday.  At times, gust could reach as high as 30 mph.

Here is a look at wind gust at 5 PM Wednesday:

Here is a look at accumulated precipitation on Wednesday.

Here is a look at accumulated precipitation on Thursday.

Here is a look at simulated radar Wednesday morning through Thursday night.  Note that precipitation chances will be more scattered in nature on Wednesday before the cold front enters the area on Thursday afternoon.

After the cold front exits Thursday night/ early Friday the weather will calm down a bit with partly cloudy conditions and highs in the mid 70’s.  Another system enters the area Saturday into Sunday.  The exact details will need to be fine tuned in future updates as the models begin to differ in this time period.  In general, there will be some precipitation risk likely later in the day on Saturday into Sunday.
