Good Friday morning everyone! Leftover showers associated with energy that produced severe storm reports of wind/hail in Eastern Minnesota yesterday are now exiting SE Minnesota. However, we will build instability back into SE Minnesota this afternoon and allow thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and into the evening:
A few of these storms could be strong to severe with isolated large hail and strong wind gusts the biggest threat: Cannot rule out a ~40% coverage of showers and thunderstorms for the northern third of Minnesota late this afternoon as a weak disturbance passes through the area.
Overall, tomorrow will be a mainly dry, clear and hot day for the region. A few scattered showers are possible in Northern Minnesota, but this is really the beginning of major heat working into the area with low-mid 90s possible:
Here’s a look at dew point temperatures over the next 4 days: We will, however, begin to build storm chances back in especially for the Western Plains as southwest flow re-develops overnight Saturday and into next week. This could spawn a cluster of thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning:
A similar look is also possible Sunday night into Monday morning with additional chances – slowly migrating east – late Monday and late Tuesday:
