5-23-19 Iowa: Rain chances increase for your weekend with heavy accumulations. A.

Good Morning! Here is your Iowa update:

There should be a nice dry spell throughout the day today, but as we move into this evening our rain chances will increase with some areas experiences as much as 3 inches in a 3 hour period. Total accumulations for this evening into tomorrow ranging from a quarter inch all the way up to 5 inches especially in the southern portion of the state. 

Through the weekend rain showers will persist, but be more scattered. The primary rain chance will be on Memorial Day as a low pressure system pushes through bringing ample amounts of moisture and energy for storm development throughout the state. Because of this, there could be isolated strong storms in the southeast portion of the state.

There is a elevated risk for flash flooding for the next 3 days particularly for the southern portion of the state as outlined below:
