5-21-18 Northern Plains: Light rain showers today for Minnesota… timing out storm risks throughout this week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Monday morning! We have some light showers associated with a piece of energy working through far Eastern South Dakota and portions of Minnesota this morning. This energy will linger in the area today with scattered light rain showers putting down light rain in spots.

A few areas of dense fog could develop tomorrow morning, specifically in low lying areas:

Overall, tomorrow will be a nice day, but we will have energy work into portions of the Western Dakotas late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. This energy will likely produce clusters of thunderstorms overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday along a warm front that will surge into the area. Some of these storm clusters could put down decent rain especially in Southern South Dakota and Southwest Minnesota.

We’ll likely continue to see storm risks along this front and in the warm sector late Wednesday and into Thursday as temperatures soar to near 90 on Thursday, with another cluster of storms possible into Minnesota late Thursday into Friday morning.

Here’s a look at the temperatures that will support instability and pop up storms especially late week:
