5-17-19 Indiana/ Illinois: Additional storm risks north today – latest thoughts on storm risks later in the weekend here. N.

Video:

Good morning!  Most areas will catch a break this morning, with a few scattered storms working across northern Illinois.  As we head into later today, with a sharp frontal boundary remaining in the area, we can get additional storm development in the circled area later this afternoon (especially after 4pm) with the risk continuing this evening, but lifting northeast over time.

Saturday should be a great day for Indiana, with shower and storms targeting areas west of I-55 in western Illinois.  Check out the rain potential through Saturday night.  As mentioned in the video, it’s possible the storms today can wind up a bit south of what the model shows.

Showers and storms work east on Sunday.  It will be windy with wind gusts of 35-50mph possible.  With the wind energy around, damaging wind gusts will be the main concern, but pockets of hail possible too.  Here is an idea for rain totals through Monday.  You can see how the totals will not be uniform.
