Video:

Isolated strong/severe storm threat can work into northern parts of the state after noon, then higher risks for severe storms to develop late afternoon into the evening over northern portions of the state.  These will congeal more into a heavy rain threat and dive southward a bit through the night, reaching Danville to Peoria and north/east.

Additional scattered activity is expected as we head through the day Friday mainly from Watseka to Moline and northeast.  Central and southwest Illinois will be completely dry Friday.  Here is total precipitation through Friday:

Areas west of I-55 will have the risk of seeing scattered showers and storms Saturday (especially northwest Illinois), while much of central, eastern, and southeast half will be dry.  This front will work east Saturday overnight through Sunday, with scattered showers and isolated storms.  Winds will be gusty this weekend, especially Sunday with gusts 35-40mph.  Total rainfall from today through the weekend:

Dry Monday, with the next system arriving Tuesday.
