Starting off our day with lots of sunshine and temperatures quickly warming. A few showers are possible across western parts of the state this afternoon, while many areas remain dry. Better scattered shower threat arrives tonight into early Wednesday, with an emphasis in southwest counties between midnight and 7am. A few pockets of hail are possible with these around Madison to Carbondale. Much of tomorrow turns dry and pleasant.
We continue to watch Thursday evening and night for storm risks mainly in the northern third of the state, as a frontal boundary develops here. There is a risk for damaging wind gusts and hail with some of these. Right now best risk looks to be Watseka to Moline and points north. We’ll have to watch the placement of the boundary as that will dictate where the storms set-up.
This front will continue to waver over the northeast portions of the state Friday leading to additional storm threat. By Saturday, the gradient for storms here should diminish leading to a lower storm chance. As you can see, much of central and southern Illinois remains high and dry late week!
