Video (6 min): (Remember the wind, temperature, and dew point forecasts over the next 4 days are posted at the bottom of the forecast discussion):
Flash flooding risk tonight….watching southern Iowa through southeast Nebraska, northeast Kansas. Narrow area where multiple storms track west to east over same areas possible. 1-2″+ easily possible where this sets-up. There is another area across northern Iowa where enhanced storms/flash flooding is possible. Much of Iowa looks to get in on the scattered storms tonight.
Watch the video for details on the rounds of severe storms expected this evening and overnight, and then again on Wednesday and Thursday. Here is the latest on total rainfall expected. Iowa looks to see the most uniform, widespread coverage of rains with many there seeing 1-3″ between now and Thursday night. Rain amounts will be more hit/miss in eastern Nebraska and eastern Kansas, more dependent upon where storms fire, but local 1-2″ amounts possible. Moisture feed focusing east will keep far western Kansas mainly dry. Western Nebraska also looks to get in on a fairly widespread 0.5″ to 1.5″ over the next 3 days, as you will be on the cooler side of the front, and rain will tend to be more stratiform there and less convective in nature.
