WINTER STORM WATCH for northeast Iowa Saturday. Mason City, Charles City, Decorah.
Snows will ramp up by mid-morning Saturday, and fall heavily in northeast counties through about sunset. Conditions clear Saturday night.
The area around Decorah will see the highest amounts, with potential for 5-8″+ there. Here is our thinking on snowfall totals:
Total precipitation Saturday will be very heavy for northern/northeast locations. Meanwhile, little to nothing for southwest Iowa.
Combined with strong wind gusts, snow may down some trees and power lines in northeast areas Saturday. Winds will be gusting 35-50mph, with the gustiest winds in the southern half of the state.
A few showers arrive Sunday, with more showers Sunday night. The state should catch a break Monday, then additional rounds of rain arrive starting Tuesday, and off and on through Thursday. Total precipitation over the next 7 days:
