A disturbance targets particularly the northern half of NE tonight into Thursday morning before advancing into IA by afternoon. Widely isolated showers are possible into far eastern KS Thursday afternoon. Here is the expected precipitation with this wave:
We’re watching for a more active pattern to develop early to mid next week as southeastern US ridging promotes a tighter thermal gradient and moisture being pumped northward. Rainfall amounts just through the next 10 days (shown below) reveals the heaviest precipitation likely falling in the eastern portions of KS/NE where a general 1-3″ is expected with locally higher amounts. Precipitation amounts decline towards the High Plains.
