Total precipitation over the next 7 days reveals the heaviest of the precipitation residing across the southern half of the state – generally Springfield and points south. Scattered rain risks continue mainly south today through tonight. We can’t rule out a few strong storms along the Ohio River with localized small hail and gusty winds. Scattered showers and perhaps a few storms will remain a threat particularly Thursday afternoon and continuing into the overnight before lifting east early Friday morning. Beware of wetter risks creeping back into the area during the 5-10 day timeframe given a southeastern US ridge becoming more dominant and a frontal boundary setting up.
