4-23-19 Round Rock Express: Targeting risks for severe weather, flash flooding tomorrow. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone. We do have a slight chance of a few showers or storms today especially this afternoon between 2 and 6 PM, but most of the activity remains off to the northwest. The greatest threat will be tomorrow. Tomorrow brings the risk for strong to severe storms with damaging winds, hail and even a few tornadoes.  A slight risk of severe weather has been issued for the area, but we are under the impression that severe weather ingredients may warrant an enhanced risk.

However, one of the bigger threats will be flash flooding risks across the Round Rock and Austin area. A stalled out frontal boundary combined with high atmospheric moisture content and instability will lend to very heavy rain and storms for an extended period of time especially between 3 and 10 PM. Here’s the simulated radar for this afternoon and tomorrow:

Here’s a look at potential precipitation for tomorrow:

There is currently a slight risk for excessive rainfall tomorrow in the area but in all likelihood this will be upgraded to a moderate risk. A moderate risk for excessive rainfall is rather rare and given the slow boundary, instability, storms and ample moisture there is certainly an elevated risk for flash flooding issues tomorrow afternoon and evening in the Round Rock area.

Here’s a look at your latest 7 day outlook. Note, after Wednesday night, we should clear out and have great weather into next week!
